We're Three Little Birds, a small gin distillery and kitchen at 22 Jeanneret Road, Sevenhill. Why the Clare Valley for your wedding
The Clare Valley sits roughly 1 hour 40 minutes north of Adelaide, which is the sweet spot for a destination wedding: far enough that it feels like a proper getaway, close enough that Nan can still make it home the next day if she really insists.
What you get for the drive is rolling hills, old stone buildings, vineyards stacked up the slopes and gum trees everywhere you look. Here's the short version of our Clare Valley wedding venue: a relaxed vineyard setting in Sevenhill with rolling hills, gum trees, award-winning gin, tailored menus and room for up to 200 guests. The slightly longer version:
- Ceremony: exchange vows on the open lawn or out among the vines, with the hills doing the heavy lifting in the photos.
- Reception: move guests to the stone tasting room (candlelit, cosy, very good for speeches) or the marquee space.
- Covered outdoor spaces: for canapés and cocktails as the sun drops behind the hills.
- Wet-weather backup: we have backup layouts ready, because this is South Australia and the weather has a sense of humour.

Up to 200 guests for a stand-up cocktail-style reception, and up to 100 guests for a seated event.
Small weddings and elopements
Not everyone wants 200 people. Smaller, intimate ceremonies and elopements are very welcome here - a handful of your favourite humans, a celebrant, a couple of very good gin cocktails and a long lunch is a perfectly respectable way to get married.
Food: from wood-fired pizza to three courses
Our kitchen builds the menu around you rather than handing over a fixed set list. Options include:
- Wood-fired pizzas - straight from the oven, and nobody has ever complained about pizza at a wedding
- Roaming canapés for the cocktail hour
- Grazing boards and share plates for a relaxed, long-table feel
- A full three-course sit-down menu if you want the formal version
Dietary requirements are looked after, so your gluten-free cousin and your vegan best mate get fed properly, not handed a sad side salad.

Country weddings have a lot of moving parts: marquees, timings, deliveries, the uncle who wants to "just say a few words". Every wedding here comes with a dedicated event coordinator from planning right through to pack-down, so you have one person to call instead of twelve.

Because Jeanneret Rd is a working venue with a kitchen, a cellar door and a bar, it's easy to turn one day into a whole wedding weekend. We can also host:

Planning a Clare Valley wedding: a practical timeline
A few things we'd tell a friend who just got engaged:
12-18 months out: lock in your venue and date. Spring and autumn are gorgeous in the valley, and popular. Decide on rough guest numbers early, because the difference between 100 seated and 200 standing changes everything from the menu to the layout.
9-12 months out: book your celebrant, photographer and accommodation. Clare Valley cottages and group houses get snapped up for peak weekends, so give your guests a heads-up with the save-the-dates.
At least one month out (legally): in Australia you must lodge a Notice of Intended Marriage with your authorised celebrant at least one month and no more than 18 months before the wedding. The Attorney-General's Department explains the legal requirements - read it early so there are no surprises.

3 months out: finalise the menu and drinks, name that signature cocktail, and sort transport. Country roads plus a well-stocked bar means you'll want a bus or shuttle for guests staying in Clare or Auburn.
